Text Relay phone service

Relay UK is a free service to help people communicate over the phone. You can use the service through a mobile app or with a textphone.

To use the Text Relay service dial 18001 followed by the telephone number you want to call. A relay assistant will join the call and can:

  • Type what our colleague is saying so you can read their responses
  • Read your written responses out to our colleague.

Relay UK is a regulated service run by BT. Any calls you make are confidential and your data is secure.

Hearing induction loops

Induction loops help hearing aid users hear more clearly by reducing background noise and amplifying sound directly into the hearing aid.

Fixed and portable hearing induction loops are available in all of our branches.

To use an induction loop use the 'T' setting on your hearing aid.

British Sign Language interpreters

If you use British Sign Language (BSL), you can call us using a BSL video interpreter through InterpretersLive! This service is available on demand from Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturday 9am to 12 noon.

If you are visiting us in branch, we can connect you to a BSL interpreter through InterpretersLive! when you visit us.

The Relay UK service itself is free. You'll only pay your normal charges for the calls you make. Please check with your phone provider for more details.
