To mark International Women's Day, The Co-operative Bank has announced a renewed current account switching offer created in partnership with its long-standing charity partner, Refuge – the UK’s largest specialist domestic abuse charity. The initiative is designed to give new customers a financial boost while helping survivors of domestic abuse take their first steps toward safety.
Switchers can receive up to £175 for switching to The Co operative Bank. This includes a £100 payment once the switch is completed, followed by £25 per month for three months.
Current account customers will also have access to one of the most competitive Regular Saver accounts on the market, offering an exclusive 7.00% AER. Customers can save up to £250 each month, earning up to £113 in interest over a year.
And throughout March, the Bank will make a donation to Refuge for all eligible switches. For every four switches made by customers, the Bank aims to fund a safe night in a refuge for a woman and her children escaping abuse*.
Hayley Lowell, Head of Current Accounts at The Co-operative Bank, said: "Everyone deserves to feel safe, and that belief is at the heart of what we're doing this International Women's Day.
"We're working closely with Refuge to help women and their children find safety and begin rebuilding their lives. And throughout March, for every four customers who switch to us, we'll help fund a safe night for a woman and her children escaping abuse.
"So while new customers can receive up to £175 and access our highly competitive Regular Saver, their switch also helps someone else take an important step towards a safer future.
"It's a simple yet powerful way for people to make a real difference while choosing a bank that shares their values."
Paula Robinson, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Refuge, said: "No woman or child should be made to feel unsafe in their own home. For many survivors of domestic abuse, access to safe accommodation can be the lifeline that makes escaping possible.
"In 2024 – 2025 alone, we supported over 1,400 women and their children through our refuges, but our work is not done. With The Co-operative Bank’s support, even more survivors will be able to find the safety they need to rebuild their lives – free from fear."

About The Co-operative Bank
The Co-operative Bank p.l.c. provides a full range of banking products and services to retail and SME (Small and Medium Sized Enterprises) customers and is committed to values and ethics in line with the principles of the co-operative movement.
In 1992, The Co-operative Bank took the pioneering step to become the first UK bank to launch a customer-led Ethical Policy, which gives the Bank’s customers a say on the ethical issues that are important to them, and how the Bank could help. These answers form the basis of our Ethical Policy, shaping the Bank’s ethical commitments, the way in which it will use customer's money and the issues it will campaign for. Since 1992, the Ethical Policy remains unique in the UK and has been updated six times in consultation with the Bank’s customers, to reflect their changing priorities. Since 2016, the Bank has been partnered with Centrepoint and are their longest standing corporate partner.
In January 2025, The Co-operative Bank joined Coventry Building Society Group – a top 10 lender and the 2nd biggest building society in the UK.
