With a credit card you decide how much you repay (subject to minimum payment).
If you only pay the minimum balance each month, it’ll take longer and cost more to clear your debt. Paying back more than the minimum, without over-stretching yourself financially, means you’ll clear your balance quicker and pay back less interest.
To avoid unexpected charges and fees, set up a Direct Debit to pay your bill each month.
When making a payment online, by phone or post please use the details below;

The changes will take effect from the next statement cycle.
If you have the Direct Debit set up on your Co-operative Bank current account, you are able to cancel the Direct Debit through online banking or the mobile app. Alternatively, you can do this over the phone, by sending a secure message through online banking or by visiting a branch.
If you don’t bank with us, please contact your bank to cancel your Direct Debit or contact us to cancel it for you. Please consider that if you cancel your Direct Debit close to the due date, we may not be able to cancel this for the current payment.
Direct Debit payments will be taken only when a balance is owing on your credit card account.
If you don’t use your credit card and no Direct Debit is taken for 12 months, then your Direct Debit may be cancelled by your bank. This can also happen when you pay your credit card using another payment type.
Once the Direct Debit mandate has been cancelled, you will have to set up a new Direct Debit mandate if you wish to pay your credit card in this way again. Until you do this, you will need to ensure that you pay your credit card bill in another way to avoid falling behind with your payments.
The Direct Debit will claim on the full payment date (25 days from the statement date) regardless of what option you have chosen.
You can make additional payments in other ways. For example, a bill payment or by cheque. You can do this even if you have a Direct Debit set up.
You will receive a confirmation letter, which includes the payment option you have chosen and the Bank account details you have set this up with us.
The amount of the payment will be printed on your credit card statement each month. This can be found through online banking, paper statements (if you haven’t opted into paperless) or the mobile app. You can also contact the Bank for your payment amount.
If the set amount is less that the minimum payment due, we’ll take the minimum payment.
If the set amount is more than the full payment due, we’ll take the full payment displayed on your statement.
Post at least 7 days before payment is due.
If you exceed your credit limit or pay your bill late, you will be charged.
The best way to avoid fees and charges is to make sure you pay off your credit card each month:
