Information for Third Party Providers (TPPs)

Following the Payment Services Directive (PSD2) regulatory compliance update, we’re focussed on providing TPPs access to bank accounts of customers, who have given their explicit consent, so that they can offer new and independent financial services.

This includes:

  • Account Information Service Providers (AISPs)
  • Payment Initiation Service Providers (PISPs)
  • Card Based Payment Instruction Issuers (CBPIIs)

We have a dedicated Open Banking Implementation Entity (OBIE) compliant interface for TPPs to securely connect with the bank. It is provided through our Representational State Transfer (REST) Application Programming Interface (API).

To support TPPs through this process we have an API testing facility (Sandbox) interface

Please refer to the API technical specification for more information.

TPPs can contact the dedicated TPP team to ask any questions about the interface:
tpp.support@co-operativebank.co.uk

To access the sandbox and production interfaces you will need to be authorised or registered, (as appropriate):

  • by the financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the UK as an AISP, PISP or CBPII, or;
  • at least have applied to the FCA or a similar level of authority for authorisation.

You must also use these accepted certificates:

  • eIDAS QWAC
  • OBWAC
  • OBSEAL

We will work with TPPs who meet the above criteria to access our online payment accounts.

You can visit the token.io website to find out more about our Open Banking API, available as a sandbox.
