Registering for the mobile app

Here, you can learn how to register for our mobile banking app in our step-by-step guide.

Before you begin:

  • You need to have an account with us
  • You need access to the email address or mobile number which is registered to your Co-operative Bank account
  • You'll need to be registered for online banking if you're not already – you can register for online banking beforehand, or you can do this via the mobile app by following the steps below.

And if you haven't done so already, download the app

There are two versions of our mobile app – one for Apple devices, and one for Android devices.

Apple app

Visit the App Store to download the app if you're using an Apple device. Or, scan the QR code.

Android app

Visit the Google Play Store to download the app if you're using an Android device. Or, scan the QR code.

Will the app work on my device?

Some devices use operating systems that are too old to work with our app. If you're unsure whether your device will work, view our device help guide.

How to register – a step by step guide

Read and accept our terms and conditions, and get ready to register

  1. The first thing you'll have to do is open the app, and read and accept our terms and conditions.
  2. If you have used the app before, tap 'Yes, I've used the app' and continue to the next section.
  3. If you have never used the app before, tap 'No, I've not used the app'.
  4. Now, tap 'I'm a Co-operative Bank customer'.
  5. We'll then tell you that you need to have your online banking details ready to set up in the app. If you have these, tap 'Set-up app'.

I've not registered for online banking yet

Before you register for our mobile app, you'll need to make sure you're registered for online banking.

You can either do this in the app by tapping 'Register for online banking', or register for online banking on our website if you'd rather do it beforehand.

Now, enter your online banking details

  1. Enter your online banking username, and tap 'Next'.
  2. Then, enter your online banking password and two digits from your 6-digit online banking security code. Once you've done this, tap 'Next'.

Next, help us verify you

  1. To help us verify you, we'll send you a verification code. You can decide whether you want it to be sent via email or text message, depending on what details you gave us when you applied for your Co-operative bank account.
  2. Tap either the email or text option, and then tap 'Send my code'. If your email or phone number is incorrect, tap 'Call us for advice' to view our contact number and get in touch.
  3. After you've tapped 'Send my code', you should receive your verification code shortly after. When it arrives, enter the code and tap 'Submit'.

Not received the code? Tap 'Resend code'. If you're still having issues, you can try a different method, or contact us.

Then, create your 6-digit passnumber

  1. Once we've verified it's you, we'll ask you to set up a new 6-digit passnumber which you can use to log into the app in the future. Please note: this is different to your online banking 6-digit security code.
  2. Type it in, and then type it in again to confirm it.

Finally, set up Face ID, Touch ID, or biometrics, although this is optional

  1. Once you've set up your passnumber, depending on your device you can also set up Face ID, Touch ID, or biometrics to log in even more quickly and securely.
  2. To do this, tap 'Turn on Face ID', 'Turn on Touch ID', or 'Turn on biometrics', and follow the instructions.
  3. If you'd prefer not to, tap the 'Continue without' option.
  4. And that's it – if your app registration is successful, you'll be taken to the 'Success' page. To return to the main app screen, tap 'View my accounts'.
  • Tips to help you stay safe

    Here are some handy tips that can help you stay safe when using our mobile app:

    • We'll never send you an email with a link to a login page, or ask you to click on a link to update your security. If you've received an email claiming to be from us that doesn't look right, please forward it to ihaveseenascam@co-operativebank.co.uk or call us on 03457 212 212 (call charges).
    • If you notice anything unusual when logging into the app, call us on 03457 212 212 to let us know (call charges).
    • Never tell anyone the one-time passcodes that we send you via text or email – not even us. If anyone asks you for your one-time passcode, it's a scam.
    • Be careful about who you make payments to, and be fraud aware. See our latest fraud alerts to stay informed about ongoing scams.
