Celebrating International Women's Day

The Co-operative Bank was originally formed to support and reflect the values of the co-operative movement, and the Rochdale Equitable Pioneers Society welcomed women to join 80 years before women were given the right to vote in parliamentary elections.

Today, those same values continue to resonate with us, and are more important than ever. Our ongoing commitment to ensuring an ethical, diverse and inclusive workplace is one of the pillars of our Ethical Policy; a policy that's been shaped by over 320,000 customer responses for over 25 years.

The Co-operative Bank is a proud signatory of HM Treasury’s Women in Finance Charter, which aims to support progression for women and ensure greater diversity in senior leadership roles. As part of those commitments, we support female colleagues with Career Confidence programmes, mentoring schemes, flexible working best practices and other initiatives; many championed by our women’s network, Elevate.

We’re celebrating International Women’s Day 2019 and #BalanceforBetter, because balance in business means a better, thriving working world for everybody. Find out more about International Women’s Day on their website: https://www.internationalwomensday.com/, and get involved in the conversation all year round with the hashtag #IWD19.
