Everything you need to know about applying for one of our current accounts

This page contains key information about eligibility, credit checks and how long the application will take to complete.
Work out if you're both eligible:
- Our current accounts have a minimum age (this will vary with each account)
- You both have to be an EU resident
- Each account may have other criteria that you will need to meet to apply
Approval is based on a credit check and an assessment of each of your personal circumstances.
What you need to apply
How much you each earn, including benefits, pension etc.
Any previous addresses from the last 3 years for both applicants
The name and address of your employers.
Current bank details for both applicants
How long applications will take
If you have all your information to hand, the application will take you about 15 minutes.
Once that’s complete, we’ll contact you to notify you of our decision.
How the credit checks work
We use an external credit reference agency to help us decide if the account you’re applying for is the right one for you.
The agency will take a number of different factors into consideration - including your credit history and personal circumstances. We’ll then use this information, alongside our lending policy, to reach a decision about your application.

What to do if you've been refused
If you're application is unsuccessful, we'll place a note on your account to let you know the application has been submitted and declined.
It’s worth keeping in mind that being refused a current account could have a negative impact on your credit rating. All applications, both positive and negative, will be recorded on your credit file - so you should avoid applying again shortly after.
