Building digital confidence with The Co-operative Bank’s ‘Digital Bees’
06 February 2020
Last week, The Co-operative Bank’s Digital Bees were back out and buzzing around the local community - this time, hosting a ‘digital drop-in’ session at Manchester Central Library.
Bank colleagues from Digital, Cyber Security and Business Banking gave their time to answer questions about day-to-day ‘digital’ activities, including how to stay safe online and using public and personal WiFi. With questions ranging from helping people set up their online banking, to searching a local online newspaper database, the team were kept busy all afternoon! One person who came along described the session as ‘life changing’, as support from the Digital Bees meant she could now stay in touch with her loved ones via email for the very first time.
The ‘digital drop-in’ marked the second local event hosted by the Digital Bees, following a breakfast event aimed at helping small businesses engage their digital audience back in October. The colleague group is committed to giving something ‘digital’ back to the community, strengthening local connections, co-operating with partners, and supporting the North West - just as the region has supported us over the years.
Jayne Golden, Digital Product Journey Manager, was one of those colleagues supporting the session: “The people I met only needed help with basic online tasks, but it was clear from their gratitude that the support would make a big impact to their daily lives. It felt good to be able to make a difference.”
For anyone who couldn’t make the session, the Bees will be recording a series of short Q&As featuring some top tech tips. Have a listen to the first Q&A below, and be sure to subscribe to The Co-operative Bank Podcast and stay up-to-date with all of our latest episodes.
