A message from The Co-operative Bank Chief Executive, Andrew Bester
15 April 2019
I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself and share with you the exciting new plans we’ve been working on.
The Co-operative Bank has always been an ethical bank that puts customers first.
And it’s our customer-led Ethical Policy that makes us different. Your views influence how we do business, including who we provide banking services to, our workplace policies, the products we offer and the charities and causes we support. The policy also sets out our commitment to helping make a positive difference to the lives of our customers and the communities they live and work in.
Since joining the Bank I have been inspired by the people who work here and by you, our customers, who choose to entrust your money to us. It is our shared commitment to the values and ethics of our co-operative heritage that sets us apart from other high street banks, just as it has done since we were founded almost 150 years ago.
This Spring, we will be reinforcing our brand through a new advertising campaign – For People With Purpose. Our co-operative heritage and commitment to community is reflected in our campaign, including a new TV advert, which you’ll start to see from 21 April onwards. It lets everyone know that we’re a bank For People With Purpose, celebrating the shared drive and determination of our colleagues and customers.
However, our vision for the future is much more than just a TV advert. For customers like you, it means continuing to build upon the award-winning products and services we already have in place. This year we have already launched a new mobile app and we have more digital enhancements in the pipeline. It’s all part of delivering the banking experience that you, our customers, tell us you want, both now and in the future.
As a major employer in the North West, we’re committed to playing our part in supporting communities both locally and right across the UK. We’re proud to support numerous charities and initiatives, such as the launch of a dedicated helpline for homeless young people in Manchester in partnership with Centrepoint. I am proud to say together with our customers, to date, we have raised over £1m to help end youth homelessness.
As we look to the future, the co-operative values we share with people like you remain at the heart of our plans. We hope that you’ll continue to support us on this exciting new journey.
Thank you for your continued loyalty.
Chief Executive, The Co-operative Bank.
