The Co-operative Bank hosts ‘Inspiring Career Progression’ event in partnership with Northern Power Women network

04 September 2019

  • The event will take place at The Federation in Manchester on Tuesday 17 September between 12-2pm
  • To register your interest or intentions to attend the event please visit our online event page

Manchester-based employer The Co-operative Bank is hosting an event to bring together those with ambitions to take the next step in their career and hear about how they could address challenges that might be standing in their way.

Senior leaders from The Co-operative Bank will be hosting and networking with attendees, and there will be a number of stalls at the event which will present the opportunity for those interested in learning more about current or future vacancies at The Bank to ask questions and register with The Bank's recruitment team.

A focus for the event; which will feature a panel discussion with Bank senior leaders and facilitated by Simone Roche MBE, CEO of Northern Power Women careers network, will be the leaders' personal experiences which have led them to the position they currently hold in the business and how they have overcome challenges in their own careers.

The Bank is actively focusing on increasing the number of women who hold senior roles within the business and the all-female panel of speakers will discuss opportunities and perceived barriers for anyone who is looking to progress their career, as well as addressing issues that can specifically impact women, or more typically affect women than their male colleagues.

Maria Cearns, Managing Director, Current Accounts and Savings, at The Co-operative Bank said: "I'm really looking forward to this event. We want to share first-hand experience of some of the career paths that senior leaders in our bank have taken. Our all-female panel will address barriers that many of us often face in our careers and we will also talk about the experiences and opportunities they are more likely to have tackled as women focused on their career.

"Our heritage as part of the co-operative movement here in the heart of Manchester, and our customer-led Ethical Policy sets us apart from other banks and financial service providers. Equality in our workplace is paramount and we pride ourselves on being a diverse and inclusive employer. We are focused on our commitment to HM Treasury's Women in Finance Charter to achieve more senior women in our business with a target of 40 percent of senior roles held by women by 2020 and I'm really pleased that we continue to move closer to our goal."

Simone Roche, CEO and Founder of Norther Power Futures said: "We are delighted to partner with an organisation passionate about community and to amplify women in finance role models from across the north."
