Before you apply, please ensure you meet with our eligibility criteria.

Bulk BACS provides you with an automated payment and collection facility. You can use it to facilitate regular payments including Direct Debits, subscriptions, salaries, supplier payments and loan repayments.

If you issue more than 500 payments per month, you can take advantage of the next generation of automated payments technology – BACSTEL IP. Our service, bsecure uses Internet technology to provide a secure way to make payments.

If you issue between 100 and 500 payments a month, the stand alone Bulk BACS package is available as part of our Financial Director service (please note this is a charged service).

CHAPS (Clearing House Automated Payment System) is a method of making same-day electronic sterling transfers, for any amount, to clearing banks in the United Kingdom.

A request received before 4:30pm will be processed the same day – after 4:30pm, it will be processed the next business day. Once a CHAPS payment has been sent, it cannot be returned. There is a standard charge of £25 for each payment.

To arrange to send a CHAPS payment, a signed request is required:

  • Fax in a request to 0161 839 2163
  • Email a scanned request to chapsrequests@co-operativebank.co.uk

Both requests need to be signed in accordance with your account mandate.
