We have created a list of questions to help you assess whether you’re eligible for a Co-operative mortgage.
- Are you a U.K. resident and have the right to remain indefinitely in the U.K?
- You have never been made bankrupt or taken an individual voluntary arrangement (IVA)?
- You haven’t had a County Court Judgement registered against you within the last 6 years?
- You have kept up all repayments under a mortgage or credit facility?
- Are you currently now and will you be able to complete the term of your mortgage between the ages of 18 and 75 years old?
- Will the property you looking to purchase be your main residence? Is it situated within the U.K?
- Will you be able to complete the mortgage within 4 months?

Frequently asked questions
Is the property a flat? If so, how many storeys?
You are only eligible for a Co-operative mortgage if the flat is 10 storeys tall or less.Is the property local or ex local authority?
No high rise properties are eligible for a Co-operative mortgage.Is the property located above commercial premises?
These properties are not eligible for a Co-operative mortgage.Is the property standard construction and is the general condition of the property good?
We may not lend on the property if our valuer advisers the condition to be poor and any fees paid will not be refunded.Has the property been built or converted within the last 3 years?
If yes, our mortgage advisers can discuss the current Credit Risk Policy with you to ensure the loan to value restriction is not exceeded.Is the application for a shared ownership or shared equity?
Our mortgage advisers will need to check the policy to ensure the scheme has been signed off.Will this be your only mortgage in place on completion?
If no or if you are retaining another mortgage, our mortgage advisers will be able to discuss your lending options further.YOUR HOME MAY BE REPOSSESSED IF YOU DO NOT KEEP UP REPAYMENTS ON YOUR MORTGAGE.
