What you need to apply

Are you new to The Co-operative Bank in Guernsey?

Accounts are available for residents of the UK, Guernsey, Jersey, IOM and British Citizens living or working abroad.

Please note, any non UK mainland residents applying for new products need to contact Guernsey Branch.

If you hold an existing offshore account with The Co-operative Bank then you are not required to submit proof of identification or proof of address.

To fulfil our legal obligations we need to maintain records which confirm your identity and address. To do this, we need you to provide proof of both your identity and address.

Please remember that:

  • Only original documents can be presented at a branch of The Co-operative Bank, where certified copies will be taken.
  • Alternatively photocopies can be mailed direct to the Guernsey branch, provided they have been certified by a recognised official e.g. bank manager, public notary, teacher, doctor.
  • The certifier must state that they have “seen the original document”. The certification must include date, role and full contact details of the certifier.
  • We cannot return any documents sent to us by post, so please take copies of any documents you regard as important.
  • For joint applications, both parties must send proof of identity and address.
