Anti-Slavery International

Anti-Slavery International is the oldest international human rights organisation in the world.

An estimated 12 million people are in forced labour around the world. Many are born into slavery, and are forced to work from an early age without pay. Unless released, they remain slaves all their lives.

With the bank's donation Anti-Slavery International will support work in West Africa, such as micro-credit schemes to enable female slaves to undertake small-scale income generating activities in order to help develop alternative livelihoods. It will also help a community school programme in Niger for children who have escaped slavery.
