Running a good business

We believe that being sustainable is an essential part of being a good business.

This means meeting the needs of the present whilst also leaving the world in a healthy shape for future generations.

We have to balance everyone’s interests

Customers. Shareholders. Staff. Suppliers. Society. And the wider co-operative movement. Our goal is deliver value to them all in a sustainable way. Of course, we have to be profitable too.

We never disguise the fact that making profits is absolutely vital to our continued existence. But as our ethical polices show, we’re not interested in making profits at any cost.

Sustainability involves both social and ecological concerns

In running the business, we aim to make as little impact on the environment as possible, whilst at the same time making a big contribution to society. If you’d like to see how we manage these areas read our pages on ecological sustainability and social responsibility.
