Finding like-minded buyers
If you’re one of the growing number of people who owns or would like to own an eco-home there is a new website that’s dedicated to bringing like minded sellers and buyers of eco-homes together.
Green Moves is the UK’s only dedicated ‘eco property for sale’ website. Buyers can search for ‘eco-properties’ online and sign up to be alerted when new properties are added. Sellers can advertise their property online for a fee. Find out more.
Eco-homes are those which have some or all of the following features:
- higher than normal levels of insulation
- natural building materials, such as timber frame and/or cladding, wool insulation, straw bale walls, organic paints etc
- solar thermal hot water heating systems
- photovoltaic panels for generating electricity
- wood fired central heating systems
- rainwater harvesting - potential uses include irrigation, laundry/dishwasher water supply, wash hand basins/showers, toilet flushing and outside tap supply
- greywater collection systems (wash water from sinks, baths and showers, with the right treatment, can be put to good use in applications such as laundry, toilet flushing and watering the garden)
- composting toilets
- wind turbines
- ground source heating.
