about the report

What is the report?
Can an organisation that conducts its business in a socially and environmentally responsible manner also be consistently profitable? We believe it can. In fact we believe that, in the years to come, the only truly successful businesses will be those that achieve a sustainable balance between their own interests, and those of society and the natural world. Our 2002 Partnership Report demonstrates how The Co-operative Bank is seeking to achieve this balance.
Why should I read it?
Our sixth independently verified Partnership Report answers questions such as:
- What are the 'costs' and 'benefits' of conducting our business in an ethically and ecologically sustainable fashion?
- How many and what type of businesses did we decline to do business with during 2002, in line with our Ethical Policy?
- What do customers think about their relationship with the bank, the service we provide and how it matches up to our competitors?
- Have we succeeded in making our operations and purchasing more ecologically sound, for example have we reduced our emissions of greenhouse gases?
- Do staff enjoy working at the bank, and what are their opinions on the bank's salary and benefits packages?
- What do suppliers think about their relationship with the bank, for example do we communicate well and pay them on time?
