Profit before tax of £122.5 million, an increase of 14.0%. The after tax return on opening equity was 19.8%.

The graph shows Profit Before Taxation in millions of pounds. In 2002, profit before taxation was 122.5. Corresponding figures for previous years are as follows. 2001 - 107.5; 2000 - 96.3; 1999 - 88.6 and 1998 - 73.6.


The graph shows Operating Income in millions of pounds. In 2002, Operating Income was 483.4. Corresponding figures for previous years are as follows. 2001 - 455.6; 2000 - 429.0; 1999 - 403.3 and 1998 - 354.4.


The graph shows our Personal Current Account customers' satisfaction with The Co-operative Bank, bench marked against the market average. 69% of our customers state that they are very satisfied and 28% state that they are fairly satisfied, putting satisfaction with the bank at 97%. 50% of all Personal Current Account holders, across the market as a whole, state that they are very satisfied and 41% state that they are fairly satisfied, putting satisfaction with all Personal Current Account providers at 91%.
