performance & commentary
In 2001, the bank spent a total of £235,940 (2000: £253,806) on hotel accommodation, representing 2,754 hotel nights (2000: 3,133). The vast majority of accommodation nights were in London (28%) and the North West (30%). All of the bank's business travel arrangements are managed by Travelcare Business (part of the Co-operative Group).i
During 2001, the bank's hotel broker, Travelcare Business, was asked to write to all hotel groups used by bank staff requesting details of their environmental performance. The response received was poor and the questionnaire exercise itself left much room for improvement. During 2002, the bank intends to produce its own detailed questionnaire to enable it to consider use of the most suitable hotels. The bank and Travelcare Business are, therefore, recommitting to last year's target once again. Benchmark By comparison, Credit Suisse Group provide no similar data on hotels in their 1999/00 Environmental Report.
