There are 3 types of alert message you can set up:
You can set this up for a day and time that suits you best. We'll send you a message with the balance of your account on the morning of your alert.
If you're worried about going overdrawn, we'll send you a message when your balance goes below a level that you set. If you have a formal overdraft in place, you can set up the alert limit as an overdrawn amount.
You can also set up an alert for when your balance goes over a certain amount - really useful to confirm that you have been paid or if you're expecting a credit to your account.
The balance you receive on all text messages will be from the morning on the day the message is sent. The text message will tell you the date and time we checked your balance. If you’d like to cancel your text alerts, text STOP to 87212.
Make sure you're registered for internet banking. If you're not already you can register for internet banking by calling 0800 590 483^. It only takes a few minutes and you'll be registered instantly.
If dialling from outside the UK, please call +44 (0)3457 212 212.
You'll then need to register and follow the on screen instructions. Make sure you have the following:
- A valid mobile phone number
- Your account Number - this must be a current or savings account
- Your security details - these will be the same as your internet and telephone banking details
To confirm that the phone number you have entered is valid, we'll send you an activation code.
Enter your account and security details, just like when you log on to your internet banking. Make sure nobody is looking over your shoulder when entering your personal and security information.
Once you have passed security, you'll be able to set up your alerts. Simply select the account you wish to set alerts for and change the alert settings to suit you. The alert amount must be set to a whole number. For example £520 is ok, but £520.50 is not. You'll need to set this to the nearest whole number.
Most mobile network providers will not charge you to receive messages from us. If you are unsure, please check with your network provider.
If you are travelling abroad, you may be charged by your network provider for receiving text alerts. Please check with your network provider. You can cancel the service before travelling by texting STOP to 87212 or by logging into your text alerts and changing the alert settings.
When you have registered, you can request an instant balance by text message by sending BAL followed by the last 4 digits your account number (e.g. BAL 1234) to 87212. This text message will be charged at the standard rate for your network. If you are unsure if this will be taken from your text allowance, please check with your network provider. This is not a premium number.
Text messages sent while roaming (using your phone abroad) may not be included in your inclusive allowance and may incur higher fees. If you intend to use this service while travelling, please check with your network provider before you leave.
