Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this account, you and the key parties must:

  • Be 18 years or over
  • Had no County Court Judgements (CCJs) in the last 6 years
  • Not have been declared bankrupt or entered into an IVA in the last 6 years
  • Not missed any payments on personal credit obligations in the last 6 months
  • Have a business address in the UK
  • Reside in the UK
If you are applying for a Community Account, your organisation must be one of the following entities:
  • A Registered Charity
  • An Unregistered Charity with an HMRC reference
  • A Registered Charitable Trust or set up with a Trust Deed
  • Registered under the Industrial & Provident Act / Friendly Society Act
  • A registered Community Interest Company
  • A members club with less than £1,000,000 credit turnover per annum: cash deposits (notes/coins) of less than £100,000 per annum: and/or less than 5000 cheques per annum
  • A voluntary organisation or unincorporated association governed by a set of Rules and Constitution or Aims and Objectives
If you are applying for a Business Directplus Account, you will only be eligible for the 18 months free banking offer if you are a new Co-operative Bank customer.

If you are applying for FSB Business Banking, you must be a member of the Federation of Small Businesses

The following criteria also applies:

  • The directors have never been disqualified
  • The business has never been subject to insolvency, or an intention to dissolve
  • The business has not had a negative net worth in the last set of financial accounts

To help speed up the processing of your application we need the following additional information from the following entity types:

Limited companies - All directors are required to have provided their details within the mandate, regardless of whether or not they are to be signatories on the account.

Unincorporated associations (including political parties, schools and trusts) and mutuals – Please provide an up to date copy of your governing document and a list of your committee members including name, date of birth, address and nationality for each, regardless of whether they are to be signatories to the account.

Unincorporated registered charities/CIO/SCIO – Please provide an up to date copy of your governing document ensuring all trustees have provided their details within the mandate.

Incorporated charities (whereby a charity is registered as both Ltd & Registered Charity) – All trustees/directors are required to have provided their details within the mandate, regardless of whether they are to be signatories on the account.
